From my childhood love of everything Pokemon and the resurge of popularity from the release of Pokemon Go, I decided to start a personal project and set myself the task of recreating the Pokemon trading cards themselves.
I wanted to take inspiration from the original cards and develop them further by creating a modern look and feel that still maintains certain attributes that nod to the original cards.
I created new symbols for the different types of Pokemon and made these a larger focal point of the card, thus creating a new colour scheme for each type that will allow the cards to be more user friendly for all audiences.
Legendary Pokemon are finished with a spot UV as well as being full bleed compared to the rest of the set. This will showcase that these specific cards are more unique, creating more hype and desire around them.
As for the back of the cards, I opted to go for a more premium feel, creating a pattern consisting of all the symbols whilst keeping it black and white. This allows the back of the card to not clash with the front.
